Living History Day in P4

Today our Primary 4 children came to school as evacuees. They prepared name labels and identity cards and imagined what it would have been like for children in the 1940s.

The children all had a chance to see our World War Two 'Museum,' with many amazing artifacts provided by one of our parents, Mr Lyttle, on display. The children then enjoyed a war time treat and created spitfires.

In the afternoon a present day army man came to talk to our P4 pupils about what life in the army is like in the present day.

Pancake Tuesday in Primary 4

Primary 4 enjoyed making pancakes today. They learnt what ingredients and equipment were needed to make the pancake batter and some useful tips for how to make super fluffy pancakes. They were delicious! Please clink the link below to view the images.

Primary 4 British Sign Language Workshop Week 1

We were delighted to have our Primary 4 pupil's begin their 'Engaging with Sign - a language for you and for me' workshop, provided by CSSC(NI). Mr Sinclair showed our pupils how to sign different emotions, taught us the alphabet in sign and played lots of games introducing us to colours in sign. On Monday all of our Primary 4 children came to school as evacuees. They prepared name labels and identity cards and imagined what it would have been like for children in the 1940s.

After some sport with Mr Moran, the P4 classes created maps showing where they were hiding sweets. Then other groups had to use their map reading skills to find the sweets.

In the afternoon a present day army man came to talk to our P4 pupils about what life in the army is like in the present day.

P4G - Learning about Length

Mr Gault's class went outside in small groups today to learn about length. After discussing how we can measure lines using non-standard units, such as our feet (which are all different sizes), they all had the opportunity to measure lines using trundle wheels (focusing on metres; standard units). Each group had printouts of an aerial view of the school and were given specific lines in which they had to measure. The children thoroughly enjoyed getting outside to use this measuring equipment.
