As part of our 999 topic, P1 had a special visit from a paramedic. He showed us all the important equipment he uses when he is helping sick or injured people and some of us got to demonstrate how these are used. He then took us out to see his first response car and hear the sirens. It was very loud so we had to cover our ears! Thank you to paramedic Steve for coming to visit us. We enjoyed it very much and learnt lots of useful facts!
Last Tuesday P1 had lots of fun making pancakes. We discussed what ingredients and equipment we needed to use. There was lots of discussion about what happened to the pancake batter as it cooked and then we decided what topping we would like. They were delicious!! Take a look through our gallery to see how we got on:
Today in Forest School the children had an opportunity to use vegetable peelers and tent pigs to help create bug hotels. Using elder wood, the children peeled back the bark and then used a peg to pull out some of the soft wood in the inside.
Children also used whatever else they found on the ground to create 'comfortable' areas for bugs to enjoy.
Today P4 and P6 had Miss McCrabbe from Translink in to speak to us about the different ways we can actively travel. It was great to learn about the Glider and other services that Translink provide.
Recently the Nursery children enjoyed their play outdoors and cooking popcorn around the fire pit! The children enjoyed hearing the popcorn 'pop' and watching it change in shape and size! They all loved eating it too!
The Nursery enjoyed a visit from a Paramedic recently. The children got to try on the uniform and listen to the ambulance siren.
The Nursery enjoyed a busy morning of making pancakes on Pancake Day! Everyone enjoyed their morning treat.
Everyone in our school community, not least Rev Hawthorne's own family (pictured) were delighted to welcome him to lead his first whole school assembly. Rev Hawthorne, who is also a Transferor Representative on our Board of Governors, taught the children to STOP and THINK about Lent and the importance of looking forward to the Easter Story and ultimately Christ's Resurrection.
We will now look forward to welcoming Canon B Martin and Rev Hawthorne into school once a month to lead a morning assembly.
Scripture Union enjoyed an afternoon of Pancake making on Tuesday. We talked about how there are many ingredients needed for pancakes but they are no good on their own. They need put together to make pancakes.
We learned 1 Corinthians 12:12 “There is one body, but it has many parts. But all its many parts make up one body. It is the same with Christ.”
We finished the afternoon with a tossing pancakes race!
